United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Latvia’s Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. Ambassador Tai and Prime Minister Kariņš noted the need to maintain close bilateral ties, as well as broader U.S.-European Union coordination.
Ambassador Tai thanked the Prime Minister for Latvia’s role in the global coalition to support Ukraine and hold Russia accountable for its unjustified and unprovoked aggression in Ukraine. She also noted the importance of like-minded allies like the United States and Latvia working together to combat economic coercion and malign activity by Russia and China. Ambassador Tai and Prime Minister Kariņš recognized the importance of boosting U.S. trade and investment and economic activity in Latvia, including through the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council. They pledged to continue working towards this goal in the months ahead.
