Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul released the following statement in response to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) issuing a worldwide arrest warrant on pro-democracy activists who have left Hong Kong.
“If you’re wondering what a world ruled by the CCP looks like, look no further than Hong Kong. In just 2 years, the CCP has crushed all freedoms in Hong Kong, clearly violating its treaties with both the UK and Hong Kong. Now they’re issuing a worldwide arrest warrant for activists who have left Hong Kong, ensuring that no one is ever safe from Beijing. This is why it is so important to push back against CCP malign influence everywhere, and to stand with Hong Kong."
