The following Media Note was published by the U.S Department of State, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs on Sept. 1. It is reproduced in full below.

From August 28 - Sept. 1, 2023, the Departments of State, Justice, and Treasury, as well as USAID, hosted leaders from Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), and High Anti-Corruption Court in Washington, D.C.

Ukraine’s commitment to tackling corruption is key to winning its future and to realizing its European aspirations. The United States applauds Ukraine’s commitment to anti-corruption efforts even amid Russia’s brutal full-scale invasion and supports Ukraine as it works to implement key anti-corruption reforms aimed at securing its democratic future, built on the rule of law. Strong and decisive action by Ukraine’s government and its independent anti-corruption institutions, as well as vigilance by civil society and media, continue to be important to counter corruption, ensure transparency in public procurement, build investor confidence, and hold those in positions of public trust to account.
