The Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) Assistant Secretary Geoffrey R. Pyatt will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 16-18. On Aug. 16, Assistant Secretary Pyatt will visit the Gaucho solar project to commemorate its first day of operations. The solar project will help the University of Pittsburgh advance its carbon neutral goals, providing nearly 20 percent of the University’s local power needs. Assistant Secretary Pyatt will meet local business, philanthropic, and civic leaders at the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. Assistant Secretary Pyatt will also visit a LEED-Platinum office tower, an example of Pittsburgh’s Green Building Alliance, meet with the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Lab for briefings on Carbon Capture and Storage, and see energy producing facilities in the region that are helping to meet American and European energy security needs.
