Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific Chairwoman Young Kim (R-CA) issued the following statement on Taiwanese Vice President Lai’s visit to Washington.

“We welcome Taiwanese Vice President William Lai to the United States, as we had the pleasure of meeting him last April during our travels to Taiwan. Taiwan is a model democracy in the Indo-Pacific and a key U.S. partner. It is important that the United States and its allies stand with Taiwan by expanding our economic and defense relationship to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and a free and open Indo-Pacific."
