Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice Desirée Cormier Smith will travel to Colombia July 24-27 to lead an interagency delegation that will participate in events celebrating the International Afro-descendant Women’s Day, hosted by Vice President of Colombia Francia Márquez. During the visit to Bogota, she will provide remarks at a conference and meet with Colombian women leaders.

In Cali, the Special Representative will join events celebrating the rich culture and history of the Afro-Colombian community in Colombia’s Pacific coast. Her visit highlights the United States’ steadfast support for peace, racial equity, and justice in Colombia.
