Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Director of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Office Wang Yi today in Beijing. In a candid and productive discussion, they addressed a range of bilateral and global issues that affect people in the United States, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and around the world.

The Secretary underscored the importance of responsibly managing the competition between the United States and the PRC through open channels of communication to ensure competition does not veer into conflict. The Secretary reiterated that the United States will continue to use diplomacy to raise areas of concern and stand up for the interests and values of the American people. The Secretary and Director Wang also discussed opportunities to explore cooperation on shared transnational challenges.
