Acting Assistant Secretary J.R. Littlejohn will travel to Laos, Thailand, and Indonesia from June 19-24, 2023. In Laos, Acting Assistant Secretary Littlejohn will meet with Lao women working in STEM and visit an Avian Influenza Surveillance program site. In Thailand, she will lead the U.S. delegation to the 3rd Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) on Science and Technology Cooperation between the United States and Thailand. In Indonesia, Acting Assistant Secretary Littlejohn will participate in a panel on Women in STEM and a panel on climate change.

During her travel, Acting Assistant Secretary Littlejohn will meet with local government officials, scientists, and civilians to discuss key science and technology policy and research priorities, including: energy and climate change mitigation; infectious and non-infectious diseases; biodiversity; agriculture; water security; plastic pollution; marine conservation; illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing; climate change adaptation; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education; and entrepreneurship.
