United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met yesterday with European Commission Executive Vice President, Valdis Dombrovskis, on the margins of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting.
Ambassador Tai and Executive Vice President Dombrovskis discussed the latest updates on the ongoing negotiations on the global arrangement on steel and aluminum trade. Ambassador Tai stressed her commitment to the U.S. and EU achieving an ambitious, high standard agreement by October 2023. Ambassador Tai and Executive Vice President Dombrovskis urged their teams to continue working to find areas of common ground.
Ambassador Tai noted that she looks forward to meeting Executive Vice President Dombrovskis at a regular cadence for the remainder of 2023 in order to maintain momentum on this initiative, as well as other shared trade priorities.
