Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today in New York with the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield welcomed the IAEA’s nuclear safety and security principles for the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant. She emphasized the need for any security and safety arrangements to fully respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Director-General Grossi also discussed the constructive role peaceful uses of nuclear technology can play in attaining the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
