The below is attributable to U.S. Mission to the United Nations Spokesperson Nate Evans:

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations visited the iconic New York City “appetizing” establishment, Russ and Daughters in Manhattan’s Lower East Side neighborhood in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month.  Joined by Public Delegate Andrew Weinstein, the Ambassador met with fourth-generation Co-Owners, Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper to discuss Jewish American food and culture and to celebrate the many contributions of Jewish–Americans to our nation’s fabric.  While at the café, the Ambassador sampled an array of traditional foods such as herring, latkes, and black and white cookies, and discussed the link between food and culture and how it strengthens the diversity of our country.
