Statement by Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield on the Release of First-Ever United States National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism

Today, the United States is releasing the first-ever U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, which includes over 100 new actions the Administration will take to raise awareness of antisemitism and its threat to American democracy, protect Jewish communities, reverse the normalization of antisemitism, and build cross-community solidarity.

Earlier this year, the United States hosted a High-Level Side Event at the United Nations focused on Global Efforts to Combat Antisemitism. In 2022, the United States co-sponsored and helped pass a UN General Assembly resolution to condemn Holocaust denial and distortion – the first of its kind in fifteen years.

The strategy reaffirms the United States’ commitment to combat antisemitism globally – including efforts to delegitimize or isolate the State of Israel at the UN. It also embraces the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism as an invaluable, practical tool for understanding and combatting antisemitism.
