Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Icelandic Foreign Minister Thórdis Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today in Reykjavik with Icelandic Foreign Minister Thórdis Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir on the margins of the Fourth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield congratulated Iceland on its Council of Europe presidency and on hosting a successful summit. The Ambassador and Foreign Minister reflected on the importance of the U.S.-Iceland relationship, both as NATO Allies and as bilateral partners with shared democratic values. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Foreign Minister Gylfadóttir discussed continued and sustained support for Ukraine, challenges posed by the People’s Republic of China, collaboration in the Arctic Council, and other global issues.
