Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Lee Satterfield will travel to Jordan from May 17-20, 2023. While in Jordan, Assistant Secretary Satterfield will advance key bilateral U.S.-Jordan public diplomacy efforts- such as promoting inclusive economic growth and education and exchange opportunities. She will also highlight the importance of cultural diplomacy as a key component of the creative economy, as well as cultural heritage protection and preservation, which is critical to Jordan’s tourism sector. In addition, the Assistant Secretary will participate in discussions on expanding access to economic and educational opportunities for women and girls through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Assistant Secretary Satterfield will also deliver remarks at the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Jordanian-American Commission for Educational Exchange (JACEE), which administers the Fulbright Program with Jordan. In addition, she will participate in bilateral meetings with senior government officials; visit Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation projects; and meet with American and Jordanian exchange participants and program alumni.
