The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on May 12. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Europe Subcommittee Chairman Thomas Kean, Jr. (R-NJ) issued the following statement on the United Kingdom’s recent decision to deliver the long-range Storm Shadow cruise missile to Ukraine ahead of its looming counteroffensive.

“We applaud the United Kingdom’s decision to deliver the long-range Storm Shadow cruise missile to Ukraine ahead of its looming counteroffensive. The UK’s leadership starkly demonstrates that the Biden Administration’s continued refusal to transfer to Ukraine the Army ATACMS, which have a similar range to the Storm Shadow cruise missile, is completely unjustifiable. This administration’s misguided fear of escalation in providing critical weapon systems, from Stingers to HIMARS to Abrams tanks, have not only been proven wrong each time, but also prolonged the war, emboldened Vladimir Putin, and cost Ukrainian lives."
