The following media note was published by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs on May 11. It is reproduced in full below.

To advance the goals of the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP), a collaboration of 13 governments to catalyze public and private investment in critical mineral supply chains globally, Under Secretary Jose W. Fernandez convened an online discussion with Argentine Secretary of Mining María Fernanda Ávila, international private sector representatives, and MSP partners to discuss critical minerals projects in Argentina. This meeting served to familiarize MSP partners and the private sector with Argentina’s critical minerals sector and projects of potential interest for investment and support. Engagements like these help promote the clean energy transition, further mobilizing resources towards diversifying mineral supply chains and advancing the Biden Administration’s priority of regional collaboration on securing responsible and sustainable minerals.
