Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Ranking Member Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY) along with Europe Subcommittee Chairman Thomas Kean, Jr. (R-NJ) and Ranking Member William Keating (D-MA) introduced a resolution calling for the immediate release of Evan Gershkovich, a United States citizen and journalist, who was wrongfully detained by Russian in March 2023.

“Russia has no grounds to hold Evan Gershkovich prisoner, he’s an innocent American journalist," the members said. “We are proud to introduce this resolution calling on the Russian government to release Evan and other wrongfully detained Americans immediately and return them to their families."
