On behalf of the United States of America, I join the people of Togo in celebrating 63 years of independence on April 27.
The United States congratulates Togo on its selection for a Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact. We commend Togo’s efforts to combat the threat of violent extremism and bolster security in West Africa. We are eager to deepen our joint commitment to Togo’s security and economic growth as well as respect for human rights, press freedom, and strengthening multilateral institutions through the United Nations.
We look forward to strengthening our partnership and wish Togo peace and prosperity in the year to come.
