WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today welcomed Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the U.S. Capitol.
“I was pleased to welcome President Marcos to the U.S. Senate today. Under his leadership, the U.S.-Philippine alliance has become stronger. I am grateful the Philippines has agreed to host additional defense sites in strategically important locations. The access these sites provide to the United States, and the opportunities to deepen military cooperation and capacity between our two countries, is vital.
“The Philippines and my home of state of Idaho have a lot of common interests, including critical minerals agreements, nuclear energy technology, and agriculture. I look forward to further engagement on all of these issues in the coming months."
