The below is attributable to Spokesperson Jessica Jennings:‎

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh of the United Kingdom, and spoke about youth and education initiatives.

The Administrator noted that USAID is committed to youth development and recognizes that educated, healthy, employed, and civically engaged young people drive economic growth, democracy, and prosperity. By improving critical thinking skills, effective communication, freedom of thought and expression, and inclusive and sustainable economic growth opportunities, youth are better placed to be leaders of their own development and help to build more stable and prosperous societies.

The Administrator and the Duke of Edinburgh shared that they will continue to find ways to support youth in developing countries to expand their education and become their countries’ leaders of tomorrow.
