Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield will travel to Denver, Colorado April 27-28 to attend the U.S.-hosted inaugural Cities Summit of the Americas (CSOA). During her trip, the Ambassador will engage with officials from across the Western Hemisphere to address global challenges, including migration, humanitarian, climate, and food security issues. She will also visit the University of Denver and Denver’s African Community Center.

On Thursday, April 27, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will participate in a fireside chat with Mayor Claudia López of Bogotá, Colombia, on the role of cities in global leadership and the multilateral system. They will specifically discuss the role of cities in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Ambassador will also host a food security discussion with mayors from the United States and Latin America.

On Friday, April 28, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will visit the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies and engage with university administration, student groups, and local high school students. The Ambassador will visit Denver’s African Community Center where she will hear from officials and refugees on the Center’s efforts to support refugees throughout Colorado. She will also discuss the Biden-Harris Administration’s “Welcome Corps” initiative aimed at welcoming refugees seeking freedom and safety and, in turn, make a difference in their own communities.
