Washington, D.C.- Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) issued the following statement on the safety of American citizens in Sudan.

“There will be consequences for those who interfere in the safe passage of American citizens, including our diplomats, who are fleeing indiscriminate violence in Khartoum and throughout Sudan. I once again call on regional partners to support the safe evacuation of civilians leaving Sudan. And I reiterate my call for belligerents not to target civilians who are caught in the middle of this fighting or civilian infrastructure."
