WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today met with Colombian President Gustavo Petro:

“I appreciated the opportunity to meet with President Petro to discuss a myriad of challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for our countries. The United States is a willing and able partner for Colombians to achieve their aspirations of living in a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous country. Our countries must quickly implement effective measures against transnational criminal activities, including illegal migration and illicit narcotic trafficking, which pose major threats to our shared interests and regional stability."
