Administrator Samantha Power and Dr. Antonio Flores, President of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), announced a partnership agreement that will expand opportunities for students and faculty at HACU institutions to access opportunities at USAID. The agreement, signed this week, builds on USAID’s existing relationship with HACU to foster short-term faculty fellowships; improve collaboration on engagement and outreach opportunities, including conferences; and expand data and information sharing to support greater partnerships between USAID and HACU’s member Hispanic-Serving Institutions. USAID’s commitment to expand opportunities for students from Hispanic-Serving Institutions affirms the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility, and advances the Agency's initiatives under Executive Order (E.O.) 14091 Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities through the Federal Government and E.O. 14035 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Government. HACU, the only national educational association that represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions, was established in 1986 with a founding membership of eighteen institutions. Today, HACU represents more than 500 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America, Spain, and U.S. school districts.
