Today, Deputy Administrator Coleman met with Abby Maxman, CEO of Oxfam America. They discussed the need to mitigate the global impacts of hunger and strengthen the resilience of local communities, particularly in the Sahel and Horn of Africa. Deputy Administrator Coleman shared USAID’s continued commitment to building more resilient communities and addressing food security and stability issues through both short- and long-term investments. 

Deputy Coleman and Ms. Maxman also discussed the importance of addressing the root causes of migration in Northern Central America, including through USAID’s Centroamerica Local initiative. Deputy Administrator Coleman emphasized USAID’s commitment to localization and ensuring local voices are incorporated into the design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of new projects.
