Washington, D.C.- Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Ranking Member Gregory Meeks (D-NY) issued the following joint statement on the fighting in Khartoum.

“We are alarmed by the outbreak of fighting between the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary force, and the Sudanese Armed Forces in Khartoum and other parts of Sudan. We call for forces to protect civilians who are caught in the middle of this fighting and an immediate ceasefire. A transition to civilian rule is the only way forward toward lasting peace and stability in Sudan."
