The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on April 14. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement on the one year anniversary of Vladimir Kara-Murza’s wrongful detainment by Russia.

“One year ago, Vladimir Kara-Murza was unjustly imprisoned by the Kremlin for daring to speak the truth about Russian atrocities in Ukraine. Kara-Murza represents the best that humanity has to offer, and his bravery in standing up to authoritarianism cannot be understated. I call for his immediate release from his unlawful imprisonment, and accountability for those responsible for violating his human rights."
