United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met today with Korea’s Minister for Trade, Ahn Dukgeun.  Ambassador Tai is visiting Korea to lead the U.S. delegation to the Indo-Pacific Regional meeting of the second Summit for Democracy.

Ambassador Tai and Minister Ahn had a productive discussion regarding the status of negotiations for the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), with Ambassador Tai thanking Minister Ahn for Korea’s dedication to this initiative.  Ambassador Tai detailed key priorities for IPEF and noted the United States’ desire to achieve high-standard outcomes.

Ambassador Tai and Minister Ahn also discussed the ongoing work to reform the World Trade Organization and re-affirmed its importance in the multilateral trading system. 

Ambassador Tai and Minister Ahn agreed to remain in close contact in the weeks and months ahead as both sides work to deepen the bilateral engagement.
