Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso in Quito. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and President Lasso discussed strong U.S.-Ecuador bilateral ties and the importance of continued cooperation on issues of shared concern, including humanitarian support, refugee resettlement, and Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield thanked President Lasso for Ecuador’s strong partnership on the the UN Security Council. She noted Ecuador’s support for Venezuelan migrants and discussed how the United States will continue to collaborate in providing aid for both migrants and the communities that host them.
Lastly, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and President Lasso also discussed continued collaboration in the Security Council on the security situation in Haiti.
