Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman spoke by phone today with Secretary General of Brazil’s Ministry of External Relations Maria Laura da Rocha. They reaffirmed the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Brazil, including our mutual commitment to democratic principles. They also discussed our shared global priorities and cooperation in multilateral institutions. The conversation follows a productive White House visit by President Lula on Feb. 10, and a series of visits by high-level U.S. government officials to Brazil over the past month.
