Washington, D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement on the Biden administration’s submission to Congress of the 10-year plans for Implementing the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability.
“I am pleased the president has finally submitted his plans to Congress for the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability, in line with the requirements of the Global Fragility Act, however, I am extremely disappointed they are more than two years overdue.
“The State Department, USAID, and the Pentagon must effectively implement the long-term planning required by the Global Fragility Act and prioritize our assistance to prevent further conflict and destabilization. We live in an increasingly violent and unstable time, and it is long overdue for this administration to recognize a shift in approach is needed to secure U.S. strategic interests. If implemented properly, the Global Fragility Act will provide that shift."
