On behalf of the United States of America, I wish the people of Ireland, and all those celebrating around the world, a happy and healthy St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the Emerald Isle’s rich heritage and culture and reflect on the partnership between our countries and friendship between our people.  The United States and Ireland cooperate closely in every sphere, bound by our shared love of freedom, democracy, and human rights.  Economic ties between our countries are strong, with growing trade and investment, and we work together to respond to authoritarian threats, strengthen global health security, increase shared prosperity, and build a green future.

This year, we look forward to commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement that helped create a more peaceful and prosperous future for the people of Northern Ireland.

The ties that bind the United States and Ireland are strong, and we are confident they will grow even stronger in the years ahead. I extend my best wishes for a joyful and hopeful St. Patrick’s Day.
