Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Taoiseach of Ireland Leo Varadkar to discuss USAID’s work with Irish Aid to advance locally-led development solutions, address food insecurity, support women-led global climate action, and combat child wasting.

Administrator Power thanked Taoiseach Varadkar for on-going coordination between Irish Aid and USAID to strengthen food security.

The Administrator recognized Irish Aid’s leadership in promoting greater localization of development programming, noting how important it is to empower communities and local organizations to lead in designing and implementing development programming.

Administrator Power and Taoiseach Varadkar also discussed the importance of ensuring women entrepreneurs and innovators have equal access to financing opportunities that have been established by the international community and the private sector to strengthen climate resilience.
