Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman will lead the United States delegation for the 5th United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, Qatar. The UN Conference on LDCs, held March 5-9, brings together government leaders, the private sector, and civil society organizations once every decade to accelerate sustainable development in the places where international assistance is needed the most and support the full potential of the Least Developed Countries, helping them make progress on the road to prosperity.

The Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the Decade 2022-2031 (DPoA) manifests a new generation of renewed and strengthened commitments between the Least Developed Countries and their development partners, including the private sector, civil society, and governments at all levels. The LDC5 event highlights the six key areas of the DPoA: investing in people, eradicating poverty, and building capacity; leveraging the power of science, technology, and innovation; supporting structural transformation as a driver of prosperity; enhancing international trade and regional integration; tackling climate change, COVID-19, and building resilience; and mobilizing international partnerships for sustainable graduation.
