Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman spoke yesterday with French Foreign Ministry Secretary General Anne-Marie Descôtes. The Deputy Secretary and the Secretary General reiterated their stalwart support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s brutal war. They also discussed the importance of advancing peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific, and of close cooperation to address the challenges posed by the People’s Republic of China to the rules-based international order. Deputy Secretary Sherman and Secretary General Descôtes also reviewed efforts to promote security and democratic governance in the Sahel.
